Island Pride Beach Cleanup

Founder/ Director Anastasia Rivers adopted three beaches on St. Croix for New Attitude Parent and Teen Workshop After School Program Island Pride Beach Cleanup.

The first beach was Fort Frederick Beach on September 22, 2018, where members painted the benches and tables as well as planted four coconut trees and two flamboyant trees donated by Ms. Rivers. Thanks to our board members and volunteers for coming out to clean up Fort Frederick Beach. Locals and visitors cans enjoy the labor of live and Pride.

The Second Island Pride Beach Cleanup was on October 20,2018. In the picture Anastasia is busy removing seaweed from the shoreline at Altoona Lagoon Beach, which washed up from hurricane Maria.

This particular spot is special to her because when she was growing up the grape provided shaded during family gathering on Sundays. Hurricane Maria uprooted the trees and Anastasia bought four grape trees to plants to replace them. She planned to name the trees after her children and her granddaughter however, she donated one of the trees to a volunteer who is revitalizing the La Valley Park.

The next Island Pride Beach clean up is scheduled for Cramer’s Park on November 24,2018.
